If you listen to proponents of the latest fad diet, losing weight is as easy as following some simple rules. Anyone can do it with a little discipline. These days, there are even diets which minimize the amount of deprivation you have to put yourself through.

So then why is it so hard for some people to lose weight?

What many nutrition experts forget is that your weight is connected to a lot more than what you like to eat. There are psychological and spiritual aspects of weight gain and loss, and for a diet to work, you need to deal with what is happening at your core.

All good weight loss programs for women focus on these core aspects. And, like everything that has to do with your soul, astrology has a lot to say.

Why do we put on weight?

We need to focus on why we put on weight in the first place. It’s not all about bad habits and discipline. In fact, weight and overeating can serve an important purpose at certain periods in your life.

For one thing, many psychologists see weight as a form of protection. It is a physical emanation of what we feel we need to be safe. An extra layer is surrounding us that translates as security. Of course, the weight only gives you the semblance of security, which is important in itself. However, when we are truly at risk, it does not serve much of a purpose, and it will eventually start harming us.

Other people put on weight as a form of self-destructive behavior. Everyone in the world has a self-destructive tendency, whether they smoke, get drunk or high too often, work too hard, eat too little or overeat. We do it for some reasons: as punishment for failing ourselves; preempting possible harm by bringing it on ourselves, or even a slow form of suicide in extreme cases.

Obviously, if you’re putting on weight for one of these reasons, simply trying to won’t help. Ultimately, the basis of your weight gain remains, and you’ll either drop out or put the weight right back on.

I can’t give you a simple Astrology chart of why each zodiac sign puts on weight. As you know, the character is multifaceted, and each sign affects every side of you. And, of course, the effect of Astrology is not confined to your sign. So there will be multiple factors that are causing you to put on weight.

For example, Tauruses are often pleasure seekers, and their weight gain is often due to hedonistic pursuits. Scorpios and other water signs like Pisces & Cancer are often ruled by emotions, many of which can lead to weight problems. Sagittarius and fire signs Aries & Leo seek adventure, and when they are deprived of it, food or other substitutes may take its place.

Time for some soul searching

Your zodiac sign can give you clues as to why you struggle to lose weight, but you will have to take some time for real soul searching. Using their wisdom as a start, explore how what they’re telling you relates to your life. Where do you see it playing out in your psyche? Once you’ve gotten to the bottom of it (or as close as you can get) you’ll be well on your way to shedding that weight.
