preachers daughtersWe have mixed feelings about the new reality show on Lifetime, Preacher’s Daugthers. It’s the faith based version of “Bad Girls Club” and these teens would make any parent cringe. I guess it’s safe to say these pastor’s families do NOT practice what they preach, which I guess makes them a hypocrite and why some people are so turned off to religion.

The new Lifetime series revolves around three pastors families who all have very naughty daughters. All speeding down the highway to hell and loving every minute of it. With one pastor daddy, praying his daughter doesn’t become a porn star or stripper. Seriously, what is this “Pastor’s Girls Gone Wild?”

Astrochicks finds this show a cartoon version of God and church, something you might find on a daytime soap. I guess love and greed is alive and well in reality TV and Preacher’s Daughters proves it.

The biggest show shocker is one of the pastor’s daughters, Olivia Perry, has a little baby girl and doesn’t know who the baby daddy is. It’s not between two boys but actually multiple guys. Really, you’re in high school and you have slept with so many guys you don’t know who the father is. Where’s Maury when you need him? Weird, sounds more like a MTV show.

Oliva says she spent a good chunk of her teenage years living a life filled with “sin. I was hanging out with the wrong people, doing drugs, drinking, going to parties all the time, seeing boys, doing things with boys,” she said. “I honestly loved the reaction that I would get when I would be like, ‘Yeah, my dad is a pastor,’ and people would be like, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re a pastor’s kid and you’re at a party.” Astrochicks question, where was mom and dad.

“I never questioned my own faith,” said her father, Pastor Mark Perry of Everyday Church. “I felt sad … disappointed with Olivia’s choices, but I would say my faith really helped me get through that.” But when his daughter told him she was pregnant, the preacher said he couldn’t help but take a hard look at himself.

One fan wrote, “I am a preacher’s daughter and this is appalling. No kid is perfect and sometimes preacher’s kids will do things to fit in maybe sometimes more than others. I’ve known a lot of them. We are all people with our own choices to make. Our parents choose to help us make the right ones as best they can, whether a pastor or not. I just don’t know why a pastor would want to parade his daughter around for a television show and exploit her “sin”. What kind of a pastor does this? Does he think this is honoring to God? Does he actually think this will help his daughter? Does he think this is going to draw people to Christ? I think the dads who happen to be pastors, supposed men of God, are the one’s who are wrong here. They are exploiting sin. I think they are making a mockery of sin in their own family.”

With all this controversy, Preacher’s Daughters, will probably be ratings gold and fans will either love or hate it. Astrochicks is still on the fence.
