Phillip Phillips won the 11th season of American Idol and continues to top the charts with his new album and hit single “Home.” According to SoundScan, the album has sold 533,000 copies in six weeks, making his album the fastest-selling American Idol debut effort since David Cook’s back in 2008.

Success didn’t always come easy for Phillip Phillips, who suffers from a congenital kidney condition. A humble and down to earth guy, he wasn’t sure people would vote for him on Idol considering he auditioned for the second season of America’s Got Talent and didn’t make it to the finals. Well, look at him now. I guess timing is everything.

Phillips says, “I honestly didn’t think people would like me — I didn’t care what happened on the show. It never seemed like a competition. I always made sure I was having fun and the band was having a good time. I didn’t give in to what some people give into — the fame.”

Born under the zodiac sign of Virgo, Phillip Phillips strives for perfection in his music. Hard working and borderline obsessive, he’s looking forward to touring with Matchbox 20 this year.

When it comes to love, Phillip Phillips is still going strong with girlfriend Hannah Blackwell. The couple reportedly have moved in together and they’re planning on getting married.
