The country continues to mourn the loss of 20 grade school students and 6 faculty members in the horrific school shooting, who died on Friday.  Tonight, President Obama visited the picturesque town of Newtown, Conn to attend a memorial church service for the fallen and to remember each person who was killed. Which begs the question, who was Adam Lanza?

On Sunday, 60 minutes shed light on Adam Lanza, who he was and more about his family. Sally Cook, who was a school nurse at the Sally Hook elementary spoke about the troubled young man. Saying, Adam entered the building by shooting out a window, but not knowing why he choose to kill the tiny children. A motive is still a mystery.

In school, Adam Lanza was shy and socially awkward. He was incredibly bright and kept to himself. According to one student, he wanted to be left alone.

A family friend said, Adam Lanza was brilliant but mentally disabled and on medication. Slightly autistic, he was pulled out of school after 1oth grade to be home schooled by his mom, Nancy.

Another friend, said Adam Lanza’s mom liked to target shoot. She owned several guns, including two semi automatic guns and an assault rifle. Military grade, who took her sons shooting. Which begs the question, why would a mother have several guns in her home when her son was mentally ill. Many people think it was irresponsible and tragic. Why not teach your son music or art, something that’s positive and non violent?

Today, our countries heart is broken and our prayers are with all the families in Newton, Conn. The funerals for the Sandy Hook children are expected to be held next weekend.  Astrochicks, wishing the families love and light.
