PHILLIP PHILLIPS Song Home, Scores Olympic Gold For Women’s Gymnastics Team!
American Idol winner, Phillip Phillips, scored a big win with the Olympics tonight. His hit single, “Home,” was the Team USA song NBC used for the Women’s Gymnastics team. Go Phillip! Did our girls bring home the gold?
On Tuesday, Team USA scored big with Kyla Ross, Gabrielle Douglas, Alexandra Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, and McKayla Maroney bringing home the gold. LA Times reports, The U.S. women scored 183.596 and won the team gold medal by a whopping 5.066 points over the silver medalists from Russia. Romania took the team bronze, and the defending champion Chinese were sobbing on the sidelines, a badly beaten fourth.
For Phillip Phillips, he’s currently on tour with American Idol and flattered that NBC choose his song for Olympic coverage. The humble Virgo guitarist, recently spoke with AJC , about his recent kidney surgery, his girlfriend, and new album. Here’s what he had to say.
How long did it take after your surgery before you could sing or play guitar? Phillips said: It was at least two to three weeks. I couldn’t even bend over or anything. It would hurt to sit up. I just sat and stared at the TV or the walls for hours. I got a little paranoid! It was horrible. I hope the rest paid off.
For his girlfriend, Phillip says he has seen her a few times, and she has been nothing but loving and supportive. For his new album, our American Idol crooner has written 15 new songs and has recorded them already. The album is expected to be released before the holidays.
Also, a special congrats from Astrochicks to Phillip Phillips.
