FIFTY SHADES OF GREY Casting Rumors, Chris Hemsworth and Katie Cassidy?
Fifty Shades of Grey, casting fever, continues to blaze through Hollywood. Every actor under 35, is dying to play Christian, with fans hoping that Ian Somerhalder will be cast as the sexy billionaire. A new hopeful has been added to the mix, who is he? Here are the latest Fifty Shades casting rumors.
Currently, the word in Hollywood is, Chris Hemsworth, is the front runner to play Christian Grey. Of course, that hasn’t stopped other actor hopefuls to express interest.
“Extra’s” Mario Lopez caught up with Latino heartthrob, William Levy, who’s also read the book. “I like the book, actually,” he said. “I think all guys should be like that.” Does Levy has what it takes to play Christian or is he too old? Well, after his stint on Dancing With the Stars, he definitely has ALL the right moves.
The book, Fifty Shades of Grey, tells the story of 22-year-old recent college grad, Anastasia Steele. She enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with 27-year-old sexy billionaire Christian Grey, through an “agreement,” and both explore the world of BDSM (bondage, dominance, submission, masochism).
The trilogy, which has sold over 25 million books worldwide, is guaranteed to be a blockbuster. When it comes to casting, E.L. James, thinks that Ryan Gosling should portray the naughty bad boy.
For Anastasia, who’s described as “‘a pale, brown-haired girl with blue eyes too big for her face.’ She’s clumsy and awkward but very beautiful. What actress in Hollywood does that describe? If Astrochicks had to choose, we would pick Katie Cassidy.
Astrologically speaking, chemistry is key for Fifty Shades of Grey. We think Christian, most likely, would be a Scorpio or Aquarius. Our vote is for Chris Hemsworth, he has the star power, and sex appeal to make the screen sizzle. For Anastasia, the jury is still out. Stay tuned.
I’m loving Rooney Mara for this – I think she can pull it off.
Actually, Christian is a Gemini – his birthday is June 18th…it’s right in the books.
I don’t thik that Gosling or Hemsworth are anywhere near good-looking enough to play Christian Grey, and neither is Somerhalder (plus he’s not nearly masculine enough). I think that William Levy matches Christian Grey’s physical appearance to a tee, and he’s got the acting skills to do justice to the role. He’d have to work with a dialect coach, but it could be done.
Oh, and for Ana…I think that Lily Collins would be perfect!
Chris Hemsworth is the front runner according to who? I dont believe this one bit! It will ultimately be EL James’ decision and she isn’t talking. Everytime this crap comes up she says any casting rumors are pure conjecture. Ian Somerhalder is fan favorite and they’d be wise to listen! No one else being mentioned has that deep dark sexy crazy look that he has. That’s how Christian looks in most fan’s minds.

Ian is too short and too skinny. Christian is referred to as tall and muscular over and over and over. Chris Hemsworth would be fantastic.
I’m sorry but Chris Hemsworth is not Christian Grey material. Not nearly good looking enough. He’s just not right for this role. I’m thinking more Ian Somerhalder. He is the perfect fit. And he’s shown interest in the role long before the movie hype started. He’s been the fan favorite from the beginning. I hope those involved with the Fifty Shades movie will take that into account.
I can only see Ian playing the role convincingly. He looks like how Christian is described, and he can act. He’ll just need to gain a few pounds.
Bomer is not edgy enough. I would struggle to watch intimate scenes with Ana knowing he’d rather be with Taylor.
Christian Bail is the perfect mix of CEO powerful, hotness, protectiveness and a little crazy…come on it has to be him!!! He is Christina Grey.
Please pick Chris Hemsworth. When I read the books, I did not actually picture him, but after seeing the other front runners — Chris is no-doubt the best actor for this job. He is young, handsome, can be mean and gentle and he’s got the body for Christian.

Chris would be perfect .. god no Ian .. to damn short and with only one expression .. let him stay with his teen show.
Chris Hemsworth doesn’t fit this role at all. Too bulky and caveman looking.

Christian is described as impressive .. tall .. muscular ..not short and skinny .. even if this Ian guy put on some weight .. he is tooooo short .. short is not impressive .. short is short lololol and that thing he does with his eyes while impressive in that show . is all he is able to do .. I have seen him over the years .. the same look .. every time .. so not Christian brooding teen vamp .. possibly but not Christian.
Oh and for the person stating that any of this has to do with the writers vision .. that is not true .. when the rights are purchased it is the Studio who bought them’s decision .. she can suggest but that is all .. it will be up to them as to who gets the part.
This is a great, GREAT choice! I especially LOVE Katie Cassidy and she is absolutely perfect and a GREAT actress to boot!
@bee You are incorrect. The writer signed the rights with the specific written stipulation that she be involved in all casting decisions.
And you are SO wrong about Ian. He’s far from short and skinny. Christian Grey isn’t a muscleheaded giant. You may need an eye doctors appointment. He’s the perfect Christian Grey in every way. Check all the polls,most agree.
