Sadly, Robin Gibb passed away today. Battling liver cancer, the legendary Bee Gees singer, died surround by his wife and three of his children, who had kept a bedside vigil during his final days.
Robin Gibb, one of the founding members of the Bee Gees, the group has sold over 200 million records worldwide. Traditionally, his role in was lead singer, which he later shared with his brother Barry.
Gibb, who was married twice, had two children with his first wife, Molly Hulis, who he divorced in 1980. In 1982, he married his second wife, Dwina Murphy Gibb, who is an author and an artist. The couple had one son, Robin John, who’s a musician like his father as well. Later in 2008, Robin has a fourth child with his housekeeper, according to Wikipedia.
Born under the sign of Capricorn, Robin Gibb, was not only a gifted artist, he was also a savvy businessman. A hard worker, down to earth, and practical, he definitely understood how the music business worked.
On his death bed, Robin Gibb was surrounded by family and friends. Gibb’s relatives sang to him as he succumbed to his fate, his wife Dwina witnessing his tears as she played him the Roy Orbison song “Crying”.
His wife and children released the following statement after he passed away, saying “The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”
Robin Gibb’s funeral is expected to be held next week in England. Loved by millions of fans, one of Astrochicks favorite songs was “How Deep is Your Love,” which was our wedding song.
