Wow, X Factor is handing out record deals left and right this week. LA Reid announced today, he has signed Chris Rene, Astro, and Marcus Canty to Epic Records. In true Astro fashion, the pint sized rapper Brian Bradley said we will make history!
Appearing on MTV’s Rap Fix Live, Astro was flying high over his record deal announcement. He said, “I’m just excited ‘cos now I feel like it’s actually a job. I’m 15 and I can say I’m flyin’ here to work on an album. It’s exciting for me,” he explained. “A lot of people probably predicted it, but I’m signed! It’s awesome, man. I’m real close to LA and the first time he met me, he told me I could do TV shows. He believed in me and that’s what I respect most about him. He’s responsible for a lot of stars in the game today, so the fact that I have a man like him helping me with my career means a lot.”
Chris Rene, a Capricorn dude, and Astrochicks favorite is celebrating as well. On his Facebook page,” Much Love to my Loyal Fans!!! Love Life Army # Salute. On January 29th, the rapper will have his first concert post X Factor in his hometown of Santa Cruz. The “Love Life” celebration takes place from 2-4 p.m. Tickets are $8 general; $5 children 13 and younger, and will go on sale Jan. 18 at the Santa Cruz Civic. A portion of the funds will go to supporting recovery programs at Janus of Santa Cruz. It’s a show that shouldn’t be missed.
For Marcus Canty, Astrochicks thinks LA Reid is grooming him to be the next Bobby Brown. He’s got swag and cool singing voice, we can see it. I just hope Melanie Amaro doesn’t get lost in the shuffle and is out shined by all of Reid’s boys. For Josh Krajcik, he has multiple record deals on the table….we love him also.
What about sweet Rachel Crow? Will she end up on Disney? Hollywood Life reports she auditioned for Disney producers on Jan. 9 for a casting meet-and-greet. She even sang for the group, and although nothing has been set in stone for future meetings, our source confirms that both sides were VERY happy with the audition. We’re crossing our fingers for her.
Looks like Simon is off to a good start.
