Amy Winehouse dead at the age of 27. The talented but troubled singer was found at her London home, British police labeled the cause of Winehouse’s death as “unexplained but not suspicious,” meaning a drug and alcohol overdose are the suspected cause.
Like Janis Joplin + Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse has joined the 27 club for artists who climbed the stairway to heaven way too early in life. Ironically, Winehouse shot to fame with her classic song, “Rehab,” The song contained the lyrics: “They tried to make me go to rehab. I said ‘no, no, no.'”
Winehouse had recently entered rehab and left in less than a week. Her family and friends devastated over her death, had become concerned at Amy’s behavior, with her drinking spiraling out of control. Just a few days ago, Winehouse performed in a surprise appearance at the iTunes Festival on July 20th. Sadly, no one knew that would be her farewell performance.
Fans and celebrities shocked by her death, posted on Twitter #Dear Amy: “Dear God have mercy!!! I am SICK about this right now! #DearAmy,” said Rihanna. Ricky Martin tweeted, ” I just found out. I feel pain. I feel anger. Rest beautiful girl rest. You are free! #RIPAMY .” The news of Amy Winehouse’s death spreading like wildfire on Twitter and Facebook.
