The Social Network, nominated for a Golden Globe picked up a Best Picture and Best Screenplay award this evening. The film based on the true story of Facebook founders Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes who met as freshmans at Harvard University. Together, they built the largest Social Network in the world along with Sean Parker. In the process, Mark Zuckerberg made a few enemies along the way and ended up betraying best friend Eduardo Saverin.
The Social Network is the riveting back story to Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg, has taken a light hearted approach to the film and says it’s “loosely” based on what happened . Tonight, the Facebook team have something else to celebrate besides winning a Golden Globe, co-founder Chris Hughes is engaged. Earlier this week, Chris and his boyfriend SeanEldridge made the big wedding announcement.
Sean Eldridge told their guests: “This is very timely for Chris and I to have you here tonight to celebrate marriage and work on marriage. We got engaged two weeks ago, so there is a real sense of urgency.” The Facebook couple have yet to set a date, but the two are willing to wait until marriage is legal in New York.
Sean Eldridge added: “As you know, we can’t get married in New York, so there is more of an urgency to approve gay marriage, so we can get married here. We’re going to get married in the next year or two for sure. We’re hoping as soon as possible.”
I wonder when Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO is finally going to get married? At the age of 26, what’s left for the billionaire to do? Astrochicks predicts that Zuckerberg will finally take the plunge in 2012, until then Facebook will continue to dominate the Social Network space. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you can catch it on DVD. It’s amazing!
