Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin are the original founders of Facebook. In the new movie The Social Network, Mark Zuckerberg is painted as a socially awkward evil genius, his side kick Eduardo Saverin as the dude who got screwed over. Edward Saverin, the business genius who believed in Zuckerberg and provided the seed money to turn Facemash into Facebook. Of course along the way, Mark Zuckerberg steals a few ideas from the Winklevoss twins and ends up throwing his best friend Eduardo Saverin under the bus. What a ruthless douchebag.
If you haven’t read the book “Accidental Billionaires” you should, it’s brilliant. The movie “The Social Network” is based on the book and gives you front row seats to all the Facebook action. Is Mark Zuckerberg really an evil genius or did his bromance with Sean Parker get in the way? What we were most intrigued by was what ever happened to Eduardo Saverin, we know he got screwed over by Mark Zuckerberg and Sean Parker, who helped stick the knive in his back. Where is he now? Did he win his lawsuit against his former BFF?
On Eduardo Saverin’s Linked in page, he’s listed as the Co-Founder of Facebook and has one recommendation. It says, “Eduardo is savvy, adaptable, and inherently strategic, he is the reason Facebook was really able to get off the ground. Eduardo was instrumental in establishing the first income generating partnerships including Apple, Paramount Pictures, and others.”
Everyone on the web after seeing “The Social Network” wants to find the real Eduardo Saverin. It’s reported he’s based in New York but it appears he has kept a low profile after Facebook launched only six years ago. Eduardo originally owned 30% of the business and when Zuckerberg got his first big investment bucks he tried to screw his BFF over. In the end, Eduardo sued Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo settled out of court. He still owns 5% of Facebook and is a billionaire now.
An interesting blog post was written about Eduardo Saverin and Mark Zuckerberg. An investor who passed on the original opportunity had met both founders while they were still at Harvard. He calls Mark the cocky alpha male, yes Zuckerberg’s a Taurus, while Eduardo was the more humble down to earth guy, a Gemini . Very insightful post and gives you an inside peek at their true personalities. Either way, definitely go see the movie, it’s a fascinating to watch and the cast was incredible. Astrochicks gives it two thumbs up.
