Last night I flew back from Seattle on Virgin America. One row ahead of me was Rock God, Chris Cornell from Soundgarden. One of my favorite singers of all time, rocking the long hair, I have to say he looks AMAZING for 46 years old. What I was most intrigued by was the studio CD he held in his hand. Was it new Soundgarden material Telephantasm?
Chris Cornell sitting alone in first class, had a friend or business manager traveling with him who sat in coach. The airplane full of Seattle hipsters thrilled to be basking in his musical glory, stared at him but pretty much left him alone. The poor flight attendant, I thought she was going to wet her pants. OMG!
Anyway, back to the important stuff. Cornell, who was ranked 4th in the list of “Heavy Metal’s All-Time Top 100 Vocalists” by Hit Parader, definitely has fans dying for some new Soundgarden music. On their official website, the band wrote, “It is with great pleasure that we can finally let you all know what we have been working on. On September 28th, we will be releasing a new retrospective called Telephantasm. It includes songs from all of our albums and E.P’s, including “Black Rain”, an unreleased track from the Badmotor Finger sessions. Plus, we are releasing our first ever DVD which will include never before seen video’s, and much more.”
Cornell, born under the zodiac sign of Cancer, definitely has a big year ahead of him artistically. Astrologically it shows him getting back to his roots, focused on his family and his first love music. I think more tours ahead, crossing my fingers and some damn good rock and roll.
If you want to keep up with Chris Cornell, you can follow him on Twitter here. Also, you can pre-order their new album on Soundgarden’s website. Rock on!
