Although Farrah Fawcett may have passed away, her memory and beautiful smile lives on. On the anniversary of her death, her son Redmond O’Neal for the first time was allowed to visit her grave. Redmond a Pasadena recovery center, is in the same rehab facility where Celebrity Rehab is filmed at.
Farrah Fawcett an Aquarius, lost her battle with cancer on June 25, 2009. Over the years, she struggled to help Redmond stay sober. In her will, she left the majority of her estate to her son, over $4 million dollars, and stressed that she hoped he would kick his ugly drug habit.
In an interview today, his father Ryan O’Neal said, “Redmond is extremely well, he is recovering from a terrible disease. He seems to have cured himself. We are thrilled about that. And that’s why he’s here, because they let him.”
Why did Redmond O’Neal agree to do an interview? He says, “To show my face and let everybody know that I’m doing good, you know, you can’t hide forever.”
“I saw my mom’s gravesite for the first time today,” Redmond told PEOPLE at a private gathering Friday evening to celebrate the opening of The Farrah Fawcett Foundation, founded to promote funding for alternative methods of cancer research. “I miss my mother so much. I’m glad she’s not suffering anymore. I know she’s looking down on us.”
Redmond O’Neal with his new found sobriety, hopes he can set a positive example for other struggling with addiction. I’m sure his mom, Farrah Fawcett, would be so proud of her son. Astrochicks wishing him lots of love and blessings.
