Rima Fakih, the brunette bombshell from Michigan was crowned Miss USA tonight. Fakih, of Lebanese descent, is believed to be the first Arab American and Muslim to to win the pageant.
The 24-year-old brunette from Michigan beat out four blondes and 46 other women for the 2010 Miss USA title after nearly stumbling in her evening gown. Fakih won the pageant Sunday night after swimsuit, evening gown and interview competitions.
Born in New York, Fakih, 24, was raised in Dearborn with her parents and her younger brother, Rami. She plans to start law school after her stint as 2010 Miss USA.
Fakih said she hopes that her position will help break some of the negative stereotypes about Arab-Americans. She wants to “show the world that there are Arabs who are beautiful, not only in looks but also on the inside. There are Arabs that are caring, that are good people, and who love the country they live in.”
Down to earth, the incredibly gorgeous Rima thanked her parents and director for their love and support during the competition. She said if it wasn’t for their help, she would had to sell her car to continue in the pageant. Miss Oklahoma, took first runner up.
Miss Fakih, will compete in the Miss Universe competition later this year. Judging by her pictures, she has a VERY STRONG chance of grabbing that crown as well. Donald Trump must be pleased! Congrats Rima!
