Jake Gyllenhaal, who has bulked up for Disney’s Prince of Persia movie, now wants to take on the Joe Namath bio-pic. Namath an American NFL icon, played for the LA Rams and New York Jets. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1985.
Jakey says, “I would love to play Joe Namath. I’ve been working on it for a long time, trying to develop that story. We got to get it right, got to get the extraordinary story perfect if we’re going to do it. But it would be a dream to play him.”
The Joe Namath could prove to be interesting for Gyllenhaal. Namath a larger than life character, was known for being a ladies man, super handsome, and overly confident. Namath, who was married only once, divorced in 1999 and has two kids. Most recently, Namath battled with alcoholism and recently completed his BA degree in 2004. Namath currently lives in the village of Tequesta, Florida, where he continues to serve as an unofficial spokesman and goodwill ambassador for the Jets.
For now, fans will have to wait before they can see hunky Jake in his tight football pants. Hopefully, he will get the film off the ground. It would make a great movie.
