Yeardley Love was laid to rest today in a touching funeral service. More than 2,000 mourners composed of friends, family and team mates of Yeardley Love gathered together to pay their last respect to the lacrosse player.
Yeardley Love was found dead in her apartment last Monday. A former boyfriend, George Huguely, obsessed with the young coed, broke into her home and killed her in a jealous rage. George Huguely who’s now in jail, has been charged with murder in the first degree.
An essay written by Love when she was a freshman at Notre Dame Prep was printed inside the back cover of the funeral service program. The final line of the piece read, “So far my life has been filled with joy and happiness, and I hope to keep living my life that way.”
The service was filled with songs and tributes from relatives and friends. The funeral program featured a picture of young Yeardley in a white angel’s costume, with white wings on her back.
Such a senseless tragedy. Thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family. The young college student will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, loving personality, and positive energy. May she rest in peace!
