Arthur Lookyanov, a Moscow tour guide, was thrust into the media spotlight after he picked up the little Russian boy, Artyom Savelyev. The young child who was abandoned by his adoptive parents in the USA. The boy’s adoptive grandmother, Nancy Hansen, had contacted Arthur via his website, Moscow Driver. She asked Arthur, if her could deliver Artyom to the Ministry of Education in Moscow.
He says, “It was quite strange, quite strange request,” but he said Hansen wrote to him that Russian officials would be waiting for the boy at the ministry. Of course now we know that Nancy lied to Arthur.
According to CNN, Lookyanov picked up Artyom on Thursday, April 8th. He said the boy was the first out the doors in the arrival hall, because he had no luggage. Upon arrival at the ministry, Lookyanov said he informed a police guard about the arrival of little Artyom Savelyev.
“The police stared at us like a crazy man,” Lookyanov said. “And at this moment my heart was broke… it was the first stroke for me, realizing something was going wrong.”
Lookyanov and ministry officials found the letter, that Torry Hansen had placed in little Artyom’s backpack. Addressed to the Ministry of Education and signed by Savelyev’s adoptive mother, it said, “I no longer wish to parent this child. As he is a Russian National, I am returning him to your guardianship and would like the adoption dis annulled.”
“I was shocked, I felt misled,” Lookyanov said. He then called Nancy Hansen from his cell phone. “At first she was silent. About half a minute. And then she responded,” the driver said. “She started to tell about the life, about this boy. About his mental health.”
Arthur writes on his blog…
We proceeded to the department. I did not leave Artem Hansen for a minute, because by now I knew he didn’t speak Russian. I translated the questions he was asked by employees and the boy’s answers. The boy seemed normal, with no visible abnormalities. He even drew a beautiful house while the adults dealt with the situation. One of the officials looked at the figure and said that the boy was all right but the small door he had drawn showed the boy protected himself from someone. In this figure, Artem also drew another boy and said that it was Logan. When we asked who Logan was, he replied that Logan is his 10-year old friend. We asked the boy whom he lived with and who accompanied him at the airport. Artem talked most of all about his grandmother, mentioned a grandfather and some other relatives, but never once said a word about his mother. I stayed by the boy’s side until Mr. Astakhov arrived, occasionally going out into the fresh air. I was so disappointed, thinking how inhumanely the adoptive parents returned the child and I was upset by Nancy’s lie.
After reading Arthur’s blog, which I encourage everyone to go to his web site and read the FULL STORY. It’s absolutely heartbreaking what the Hansen family did to this poor kid. They are complete liars. It now appears that the Hansen family not only lied to the adoption agency, they lied to Artyom, and lied to the driver picking him up.
Torry Hansen now in hiding, STILL refuses to speak to authorities. Making a mockery of our government system, hurting relations with our foreign neighbors, ruining adoptions for hundreds of other families. Most of all, being unnecessarily cruel to a little Siberian boy looking for a happier life.
I hope the Sheriff’s department interviews Arthur, there is something very disturbing going on in the Hansen family and they should investigate for the sake of the other little boy Logan. Thoughts and prayers go out to Artyom. May he find a family who can truly love him. Blessings to Arthur and his family for being his Guardian Angel and trying to help the little boy.
