Bruce Beresford-Redman, a successful reality TV producer, has been named a suspect in the death of his wife Monica. Redman, his wife and two children had went on a family vacation in Cancun for two weeks. For the Redman’s, it was a last ditch effort to save their marriage.
They were scheduled to come home today, Thursday, on Monica’s 42nd birthday. Sadly, she never made it and her husband is answering questions from the Mexican police. His wife’s lifeless body was found this morning, in a sewer, at the resort where they were staying. Mexican prosecutors said it appears she was strangled.
According to LA Times, authorities say Beresford-Redman had scratch marks on his neck, and hotel staff reported seeing the couple arguing in a “violent” manner on Sunday. Several guests told police they heard arguing coming from the couple’s room on Monday night. Authorities said an autopsy indicated that Monica Beresford-Redman died Monday night.
The Emmy-nominated producer, best known for his work on two hit reality shows — MTV’s “Pimp My Ride” and CBS’ “Survivor” — reported his wife missing on Tuesday. He told Mexican police he last saw her at 10 a.m. Monday, when she left their hotel to go shopping.
The trip to Cancun, family said, was designed to fix a marriage that had been strained three months ago, when Monica learned her husband had been having an affair. They had been talking about a divorce.
Sadly, the vacation turned into something much more sinister. Thoughts and prayers go out to Monica’s family and friends.
