Life imitating art, Michael Douglas lost huge chunk of change in the stock market. Douglas, who played the ruthless trader Gordon Gekko, in the film “Wall Street,” sold his stocks at the end of last year, according to The Sun. The actor said he lost 35% to 40% of his net worth in the 2008 crash. “At the end of last year, I took a whole bunch out,” he said.
Douglas, married to sexy siren Catherine Zeta Jones, shares the same birthday as his wife. Both charming, they love the finer things in life and have a true Hollywood romance. Together they have two gorgeous kids, Dylan Michael 9 years old, and Carys Zeta is 7.
His Hollywood success has come at an emotional price for his other children. His oldest son, Cameron, is facing several years in prison for drug trafficking. On January 27, 2010, Douglas pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute drugs and also to heroin possession after his girlfriend tried to smuggle him heroin inside an electric toothbrush while he was under house arrest. He will be sentenced on April 27, 2010, and faces a minimum 10-year prison sentence.
Astrologically, the next few years will prove to be difficult for the star. Heartbroken over his sons prison sentence, he will have to come to terms with the mistakes he’s made in the past as a father and try to make amends for the future. Money and fame can be a double edged sword, for Douglas, time will heal all wounds.
