Sadly today, Corey Haim was laid to rest. Hundreds of family members, friends and fans gathered together to pay respect to the former teen idol at Thornhill Chapel.
The service was “very sad but with a lot of laughter,” said Maytal Kotler, a second cousin of Corey Feldman, who co-starred with Haim in the reality show The Two Coreys. Kotler said the Steeles Memorial Chapel was jammed with more than 200 people. Fans stood quietly outside on the chapel lawn in the late morning sunshine.
Another mourner, Producer Justin Levine, president of Stardust Pictures, said he sought out Haim in Los Angeles to appear in the movie. “He (Haim) was very happy to be back in Toronto. He loved walking around in Yorkville,” Levine recalled.
“He was really endearing, he was just a nice guy. He was very honest about his life. He would tell me everything about his life, the pills, his girlfriends, his roles, he literally poured out everything to me; nothing was really a secret. He was a cool guy about that. It hurt him that his fame had dropped off.”
Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and especially his mother Judy Haim. He was a wonderful sweet soul, he will be missed.
