HARVEY WEINSTEIN, Signs Polanski Petition and Says Hollywood Has the Best Moral Compass!!!
I think Hollywood may have lost its touch with society. Over 185 director, actors, and various other celebrities have signed a petition to let Polanski go? Why not a petition to end sexual violence against women and children.
At dinner last night with two friends. One was from Canada and the other from Italy. Both thought Roman Polanski deserved to be extradited back to the US and they were outraged at some of the celebutard comments.
More than 70 percent of 30,000 respondents to an online poll by the right-leaning newspaper Le Figaro said Mr. Polanski should face justice. Hundreds of letters poured in to the magazine Le Point condemning the director’s defenders. One of them lambasted “the crypto-intelligentsia of our country,” which in France is something like the ultimate insult. The letters sounded like the bloggers and right-wing commentators in America who heaped scorn on Hollywood figures like Mr. Weinstein and Ms. Goldberg, who was parodied on “Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update Thursday,” just as Mr. Mitterrand had been on the French show. It was almost possible, from their comments, to think France and America were alike, after all.
One classic comment, came from one of my favorite movie producers, Harvey Weinstein. According to NY Times, Weinstein called the Polanski arrest, using the phrase “so-called crime” to describe the act of unlawful sex to which Mr. Polanski pleaded guilty, and then Mr. Weinstein, in all apparent seriousness, told The Los Angeles Times that “Hollywood has the best moral compass.”
Laughable, I think Weinstein should stick to making movies and let his publicist make statements for him. By the way, isn’t your wife about 30 years younger than you as well?
