Representatives from “The View” said West called Swift after her appearance on today’s show, and she accepted his apology. Swift later told ABC News Radio, “Kanye did call me and he was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology.”
During the broadcast, Swift recounted what went through her head during the VMA debacle.
“My overall thought process went something like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe I won, this is awesome, don’t trip and fall, I’m going to get to thank the fans, this is so cool, oh, Kanye West is here. Cool haircut, what are you doing there?'” the 19-year-old country singer said today. “And then, ‘Ouch,’ and then, ‘I guess I’m not gonna get to thank the fans.'”
Asked if she would accept an apology from the rapper, Swift said, “Sure,” but added, “he has not personally reached out or anything.”
She went on: “I’m not gonna say that I wasn’t rattled by it, but I had to perform live five minutes later so I had to get myself back to the place where I could perform. … All the other artists that came and showed me love in the hours following it, all the people tweeting, all of the fans … it was wonderful to see all these people defending me so that I didn’t have to.”
Co-host Goldberg quipped, “Well, I’m sure if Kanye’s watching, he’ll know what to do.”
Finally, the guy says he’s sorry. Hopefully, he will learn to be more humble in the future.
