Sad news, a former American Idol contestant was killed in what is believed to be a drunk driving accident. The “American Idol” hopeful was killed early Saturday morning in Seaside Heights when Alexis Cohen was struck by a motor vehicle, police have said. Her body was found 350 yards from the Bay Boulevard lot where police found her car. She suffered abdomen, chest and head injuries.

Police were notified at 5:05 a.m. Saturday, by people who saw the body while passing the intersection of Bay Boulevard and Dupont Avenue, authorities have said. Cohen was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m., police said.

Bark was arrested in Atlantic Highlands at 6 p.m. Sunday. Daniel Bark appeared in front of state Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels this afternoon for his first appearance on the original charge of leaving a scene of a fatal accident. Bail on that charge had been set at $35,000 with no option to pay 10 percent.

“American Idol” viewers might remember Alexis Cohen’s angry yet empowered, partially censored, post-rejection rant aired during the show’s seventh season. Last year, she unsuccessfully auditioned for season eight.
