Michael Jackson was laid to rest today. In a beautiful memorial, watched by millions around the world, the King of Pop was remembered for his music and as a humanitarian.
His children, seated in the front row, witnessed the incredible effect their father had on the world as an artist. A parade of talent paid tribute to Michael including: Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer, Mariah Carey, Brooke Shields, Usher, Lionel Ritchie, Smokie Robinson, his family, and children.
In front of thousands of fans and millions of TV viewers, Jermaine, 54, Jackie, 58, Tito, 55, and Marlon, 52, took to the stage at LA’s Staples Center next to the star’s flower-covered coffin.
Decked out in dark suits with yellow ties, red roses, and a trademark shining glove on one hand, the brothers stole the show. In a special tribute, Jermaine sang his brother’s favorite song, Smile by Charlie Chaplin, and fought back tears during an emotional performance.
He received a standing ovation from the 20,000-strong crowd after the song and was embraced by his brothers.At the end of the concert, an emotional Jermaine told the crowd: “My family, my nieces, my nephews, my sisters, my brothers, I would like to thank everyone for coming out, I am lost for words. I was his voice, his backbone and so was his family, we thank you very much.”
Marlon also paid tribute. He said: “I stand here trying to find words of comfort, solace. Trying to understand why the Lord has taken my brother from such a short visit on Earth.
His daughter Paris, Michael Jackson’s tearful daughter Paris paid tribute to “the best father you could ever imagine” as she made her first public appearance before an audience of billions at her dad’s memorial.
