Yesterday, I came across a book, that featured photos from the infamous “Dead Dog Beach” in Puerto Rico. It’s a heartbreaking look at the homeless dog and cat population on the island. In Puerto Rico, these animals are abandoned at the beach, and sadly abused even killed.

Island Dog, a charity organization supported by Disney actress Selena Gomez, is trying to help these animals find homes.  Selena born under the sign of Cancer, is donating her time to help support this wonderful organization.

Today, it’s estimated there are 200,000 plus dogs and cats roaming the streets and beaches of Puerto Rico, a United States territory, suffering from illness, injury, abuse, and starvation.

The animals on this beach and other beaches throughout Puerto Rico are desperate to be rescued and receive the loving care every animal deserves.  With your contributions Island Dog can establish a rescue center in Yabucoa and other communities with similar needs.  Also, they can teach children torturing and killing animals is wrong.   They can give parents resources to educate themselves and their kids about caring for their pets, inevitably creating support systems for both people and animals.

In the picture above, are two rescues, from Dead Dog Beach. On the left is Nina before and after she was rescued. On the right, is Nicole before and after she was rescued.  The good news is they were adopted by families in Maryland.
