In the latest Perez Hilton vs. Will.I.Am, the gossip gangster has decided to sue his manager for smacking him after the Much Music Awards. The two, got into a verbal disagreement and Perez decided to call Will.I.Am a f**got and said his music sucked.
His manager, Polo Molina, supposedly punched him in the back of the head. Perez, jumped on Twitter asking fans to call the police in Toronto. I guess 911 on his cell phone didn’t work. The drama unfolded and of course Polo Molina was arrested. Crazy stuff.
A new front has opened in the battle between Perez Hilton and the Black Eyed Peas manager accused of hitting him: a civil lawsuit.
The celebrity blogger, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, sued the Peas’ manager in Los Angeles on Wednesday for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He is seeking unspecified damages of more than $25,000.
The suit states Hilton is seeking to protect his rights to free speech and claims Polo Molina attacked him because he made critical comments about the Black Eyed Peas’ new album.
Molina was arrested in Toronto early Monday after he allegedly punched Hilton following a heated argument between the blogger and Black Eyed Peas leader will.i.am. He is due to appear in court on Aug. 5.
They both should apologize and get over it. Violence is never the answer, racial or gay slurs are not either. GLAAD has asked Perez to apologize for using hateful words in the confrontation. Perez issued a statement on his blog, fans are evenly divided between the two.
Celebrities have come to the defense of Will.I.Am, stating that the singer was completely respectful to Perez during the confrontation. It sounds like maybe Perez had too much to drink.
Later today, it was annouced that Molina was on probation for a DUI. If convicted of assault, he faces 6 months in jail. OUCH! Can’t we all just get along?
Well said…
Well I wonder what Perez/Mario has ever done for humanity other than use bigotry, harassment and name calling to prop himself. He has even turned against his own demographic groups. He’s in it for himself alone.
Will.i.am, on the other hand, is an artist that has redefined hip hop and urban and taken the music back to melodic roots. He has lead a very strong musically-oriented political movement that many believe got Obama elected. His DipDive organization is leading in a number of charity causes, from taking back the planet, helping to fight hunger and inequality.
So can someone help me understand why these two should even be mentioned in the same paragraph, must lest the same sentence? I think it’s just a symptom of society that somehow we value spectacle on par with real achievement. Good news is that the tide is turning.
AS to that scuffle, who knows what really happened. Someone from the will.i.am crew or manager or fan gave Perez the Boom Boom Pow. Polo, will’s manager, had to stay behind lest the band would have been detained from traveling on to the UK. The Toronto court will figure out or there will be a confession I’m sure.
I called up Will’s team and told them that I myself would not have been so elegant in my dealings with one as frothy and revolting as Perez. In the old days there would have been a duel. Even a few decades ago a man would have had the right to deck another in defense of his wife’s honor. For Perez to be allowed into the same social crowd as artist and lovely lady Fergie boggles the imagination. For Will to endure such stupefyingly low crust insults vomited at his close friend and bandmember probably took all the resources in his body to control himself.
So I’d rather focus on saving the earth and helping underdeveloped regions of the world. And I applaud Will for all that he represents. Let’s focus on the enlightening and forget the rest.
