Will Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears star in a sitcom remake of Laverne and Shirley? According to a London newspaper, they are in discussions. Jessica wants to prove she’s not a one trick pony. I actually think it would be a good idea, it could actually be a really funny show.

Pop star Britney Spears is being persuaded by singer Jessica Simpson to join her for a new TV sitcom. ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ star has approached Spears with the idea of teaming up for a buddy comedy like beloved series ‘Laverne and Shirley,’ the female first website quoted the Globe.

“Britney seems genuinely interested in working with her. She’s said they’ll talk further when she finishes her Circus tour,” a source said.

“And Jessica wants to prove to the world that she’s a talented, funny actress, not just some silly airhead,” source added. Both singers have toyed with comedy roles in the past. While Simpson starred in the films ‘Major Movie Star’, ‘Blonde Ambition’ and ‘Employee of the Month’, Spears won over critics when she played a confused secretary in US sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother last year’. Britney, is a Sag, free spirited and outspoken. I think she would make a great Shirley. Jessica a Cancer, would make a great Laverne. Lets hope these two girls get it together, maybe Jessica can hook Britney up with a sexy athlete.
