Last weekend, Jade Goody 27, was laid to rest. Thousands our mourners in London, gathered in the streets, to pay their last respect to the young reality star.

She first shot to fame in the popular show, Big Brother. Not shy, she had a love/hate relationship with the media. When  diagnosed with cancer, she decided to live out her last days in front of the camera. Why? To earn money for her children and husbands future.

Now that the Obamas have left after their wildly successful visit to London, Brits have returned to their favorite obsession – the in-front-of-the-cameras life and death of reality TV star Jade Goody.

In startling scenes reminiscent of the tear-soaked funeral of Princess Diana, thousands lined the streets Saturday to pay their respects to the 27-year-old cancer victim.

Goody’s vintage Rolls-Royce hearse was showered with flowers. People sobbed on sidewalks.The emotional memorial service was relayed on giant screens for crowds of mourners who could not fit inside the church.

“It is just so awful,” said Margaret McCorry of South London, who showed up to watch the colorful cortege with her 13-year-old daughter. “She was an ordinary girl – one of us. Even though we never met her, we loved her.”

I’m sure she’s smiling down from heaven. Thoughts and prayers go out to her two little boys.
