Anne Hathaway’s career is on fire these days. The sexy Scorpio girl has scored a major film role, she’s been tapped to star as Judy Garland in the new Weinstein picture. I guess her Oscar nomination for Rachel’s Wedding, made producers decide she could handle playing the controversial singer.

Anne Hathaway has signed on to star as the iconic performer Judy Garland in the film and stage adaptations of Gerald Clarke’s biography “Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland.” The book is based on hundreds of interviews, plus Garland’s own unfinished and unpublished autobiography. It portrays the dramatic highs and lows of the “Wizard of Oz” icon’s life.

“We are thrilled to have the brilliantly talented Anne Hathaway portray stage and screen legend Judy Garland. I have worked with Anne on projects in the past and have known her for many years. She will be a true class act in this challenging role,” The Weinstein Co. exec Harvey Weinstein said in a statement released today. “Her story is incredible subject matter for both theatre and film and we look forward to bringing it to audiences.”

What an amazing role, for such a young actress. Now she just needs to bag her a new boyfriend. Stay tuned.
