Now that Melissa Rycroft has bounced back, what about Jason Mesnick? Will he ever recover from his PR nightmare? Once the darling of America, the sexy single dad, now is one of the most hated guys in America. As Heidi Klum says, “one day you’re in, the next day you’re out.”
In a recent TV Guide poll, readers were asked if they thought Jason was a “bastard” for what he did. Of the more than 7,000 people who voted in TVGuide.com’s online poll, 60 percent agreed with Rycroft. Twenty-five percent said Mesnick couldn’t be faulted for his choice (agreeing with the Woody Allen adage that “the heart wants what the heart wants.”) Fifteen percent were so disgusted with the outcome that they vowed never to watch again. (“Don’t text and don’t call,” they said, echoing Rycroft’s goodbye to Mesnick.)
Fame is a funny thing, especially if it’s reality. The public’s perception of you can have a lasting effect. Hopefully for Ty’s sake, Jason will redeem himself. I think Jason’s Place is a great idea for single parents and in today’s economy it’s important to have support groups.
The jury is still out on Molly and Jason. Will they make it? Astrologically, it looks like it’s going to be a bumpy ride. Now that the fairy tale is over, he may not seem like such a prince after all. Stay tuned.
