In a shocking news story, two NFL stars and their two friends have been reported missing off the coast of Florida. The U.S. Coast Guard searched the Gulf of Mexico today, searching for Marquis Cooper’s missing fishing boat. The other three boaters were identified as Corey Smith, Nick Schuyler and William Bleakley, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
WTSP in Tampa spoke with Schuyler’s father, Stu, who said he talked with his son Friday, and Nick planned to get to bed early in preparation for a Saturday fishing trip. “He’s my life,” Stu Schuyler told WTSP. “I don’t know what I’ll do.”
Marquis Cooper, the owner of the boat, has been an avid fisherman for years. Cooper, 26, and his three friends left shore in a 21-foot, single-engine boat Saturday at 6:30 a.m. EST for an all-day fishing trip. They were expected back Saturday night but failed to return.
His wife Rebekah, and his family have thanked the public for their love and support during this difficult time. The Coast Guard will continue to search for the men on Monday.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, hopefully they will be found safe and sound.
