Today, is the big day, and Hollywood is going CRAZY. Last night a ton of parties were held, AstroChicks even got to attend one for the Glam Network with my good friend Justine Kenzer, also known as Psychic Girl.
It’s been reported in LA Times, that A-listers like Jennifer Aniston, John Mayer, and Robert Pattinson have been asked to NOT walk the red carpet. Why? They don’t want them stealing anyone else’s thunder who has been nominated tonight. Who would your rather see? Jennifer Aniston, Robert Pattinson, or Melissa Leo. Probably Robert Pattinson for me.
Anyhoo, here is a little bit of Oscar trivia:
The very first Oscars were held just a few blocks from the site of the Kodak Theater at the Roosevelt Hotel on May 16, 1929. Tickets went for $5 a pop and 270 people attended the dinner with the Oscars handed out as dessert by the academy’s first president Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. For the only time in Oscar history there were two best picture winners but not because of a tie. Rather, “Wings” won what we know as best picture while “Sunrise” was awarded an Oscar in a category that never saw the light of day again — “unique and artistic picture.”
Now, the Oscars are held at the Kodak Theater which is absolutely gorgeous and on Hollywood Blvd. To check out live coverage, go to Popbytes.com.
