Wow, what an exciting day. I’ve been glued to CNN all day watching the festivities on TV. I would have LOVED to be in DC. I couldn’t swing a place to stay, so I’m watching it in LA, in scorching 80 degree weather.
Associate Press reports that more than 1 million people crammed onto the National Mall and along the inauguration parade route Tuesday to celebrate the swearing-in of the nation’s first black president in what was one of the largest-ever gatherings in the nation’s capital.
Beyonce will be belting out the first tune, for President Obama and his First Lady Michelle first dance. The rumor is that she will be singing “Unforgettable.”
In President Obama’s beautiful inauguration speech he said:
I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and co-operation he has shown throughout this transition.
It was powerful and inspirational. You can read the full speech here. Also, Michelle Obama looked beautiful in her yellow designer dress. WOO HOO! We have a new President.
