LYNN STRAIT – On 10 Year Anniversay Death of Lead Singer of Snot, Disney Bans Band From Playing House of Blues Orlando!!!

Formed in 1995, Snot a popular rock band from Santa Barbara, was recently banned from playing Orlando House of Blues.lynnstrait.jpg Why? According to Disney, the name “Snot” was too offensive (WTF?), and they didn’t like their lyrics. They have currently been on tour with Mudvayne and the band has now been forced to book a separate gig on December 20th. What happened to “Freedom of Speech?”

The former lead singer Lynn Strait, on December 11, 1998, died in a car accident when a truck struck his car, killing him and his boxer, Dobbs. The band distraught of the loss of their singer, disbanded shortly thereafter. The remaining original members of the band: Shannon Larkin, John Fahnenstock, Sonny Mayo, Jamie Miller, and Mike Doling went on to rock and roll stardom. They went on to play in popular rock bands: Godsmack, Sevendust, Invitro, Amen, the Start, and Noise Within.

The band recently reunited this summer, to go on tour with Mudvayne. Tommy Vext joined the band as lead singer and the band has been on a cross country tour ever since. In 2009, they have plans to go into the studio to record a new album and hopefully hit the road again.

Here is Snot’s blog post:

URGENT: Disney bans SNOT from Orlando House Of Blues
Current mood: bullied

Unfortunately, SNOT has been ejected from the 12/20/08 show at the House Of Blues Orlando. It was to be the last show on the Mudvayne, 10 Years, SNOT tour… Why were we dropped from the bill? Because, according to Disney, “everything about SNOT is offensive, including the name”…

We did our best to comply with their requirements, including removing images from our Myspace profile, agreeing to not play certain songs, and providing “them” a set list for approval… Well… It wasn’t good enough… We were rejected… Taken off the bill…

So, what WE did was get on the phone and book our OWN show down the street at another place in Orlando called The Haven. To any and all SNOT fans that wanna come see us at the Haven we will post all the info soon…

The bass player of Snot, John Fahnenstock, is a personal friend of Nostraboris ( where John also plays in the band Noise Within), and Astrochicks. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the band, Lynn Strait’s family, and fans. In memory of Lynn’s tragic death ten years ago on December 11th. The band will be playing in Baltimore, Maryland at Ram’s Head Live. Check out their MySpace page here.
