More details in the murder of Jennifer Hudson’s family has been discovered. Investigators now believe that Balfour killed Julia Hudson’s family in a jealous rage over another man. On October 23rd, Julia Hudson had celebrated her birthday. Balfour who was with her that day noticed a gift, which he believe to be from another man. It is reported that he returned to her home the following morning threatening to harm her family, unless she stopped seeing the other man.
Jennifer Hudson‘s sister, Julia, celebrated turning 31 on Oct. 23 with cake and a small party at home. The next morning, police say, Julia’s estranged husband William Balfour – booted last February from the house on Chicago’s South Side where they lived with Julia’s mother and 7-year-old son – showed up and spotted a gift he believed came from another man.
That jealousy is the motive that led Balfour, 27, to return to the house after Julia had left for work and shoot her mother Darnell Donerson, 57, Jennifer’s brother Jason, 29, then take Julia’s son, 7-year-old Julian King, and later kill him as well, prosecutors allege.
Jennifer and other Hudson family members were “relieved and happy” after Balfour was charged Dec. 2 with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion, Chicago Police Deputy Superintendent Steve Patterson has said. Those family members assisted “every step of the way under very stressful and painful circumstances,” adds police Superintendent Jody Weis.
On a positive note, Jennifer Hudson, who recently returned to work, received four Grammy nominations for her new album. “It’s been a childhood dream of mine to release an album,” she said in a statement, “so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing. I’m extremely honored and humbled by the nominations.”
It’s reported that Jennifer Hudson and her fiancee David Otunga plan to marry next year. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
