Hudson and some of her family members have been staying at the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago, and Trump has been picking up the tab. Since the murder of her family, Jennifer Hudson has been in hiding, and some say in fear for her life.

As Chicago police continue to investigate the murder of her family, the community has tried to make sense of the killings. Some speculate it was a drug hit and others think it was a domestic dispute between Julia Hudson and her estranged husband William “Flex” Balfour. The main suspect William Balfour remains in custody on a parole violation. No formal charges have been filed against him.

“They are safe,” Trump told People on Monday night. “She’s a great girl and we’re protecting them well.”

That’s incredibly cool of Donald Trump to help her out. He’s a softie after all.
