Today, police found the mother, Darnelle Donerson, and brother of Jennifer Hudson murdered in their Chicago home. A amber alert was issued for her nephew, Julian King, who is believed to be kidnapped by William Balfour. The police have confirmed to Access they have declared a man named William Balfour as “a suspect in the double homicide,” which The Chicago Tribune also first reported. Balfour is considered to be “armed and dangerous,” police told Access. He is believed to have stolen her brother Jason’s white Chevy Suburban as well.
Chicago police are now searching for a man and boy, believed to be driving on the North Side. The man is known as “William Balfour,” has braids in his hair, and is driving a 1994 Chevy, according to police scanner traffic. The 7-year-old, known as Julian King, is wearing a tan jersey with the number 5 on it, and tan slacks.
Police are looking for a 1994 white Suburban, which they believe may contain Balfour and the boy. According to the Chicago Tribune, the vehicle is registered to Jason Hudson, Jennifer’s brother. No word on what relation William has to Jennifer Hudson, or the child Julian. Please call 911 immediately if you see 1994 white Chevy Suburban with the license plate X584859.
Jennifer Hudson was in Tampa, Florida at the time of the shooting. She was scheduled to leave for Japan on Monday to promote her new album. She has canceled all appearances and is expected to arrive back into Chicago this evening.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
