The latest news on Joe the Plumber is he’s NOT a licensed plumber, not a small business owner, he makes under $40k per year, and owes back taxes. So why is he so concerned about Obama taxing people who make over $250K? Obama is FOR guys like Joe the Plumber. Oops, egg on your face McCain.
Washington Post Reports:
Wurzelbacher since then has been on Fox News, interviewed by CBS’s Katie Couric and appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
Not all the attention has been welcomed. Wurzelbacher, 34, told the Associated Press that he was not a licensed plumber. Because he works for a small company that does residential work, he said, he doesn’t need to be licensed.
Wurzelbacher said he is of modest means, but worried Obama’s tax plans would eventually hurt him. “You see my house. I don’t have a lot of bells and whistles in here, really. My truck’s a couple of years old and I’m going to have it for the next 10 years probably. So I don’t see [Obama] helping me out,” he told reporters this morning.
I understand “Joe the Plumber’s” concern, but he obviously doesn’t understand the facts, and needs a new tax accountant. I seriously doubt he thought he would get this much attention. Anyhoo, I expect this to blow over in a few days. BUT, McCain is milking it while he can.

It’s fascinating to me how the Republican party has managed to sell itself to certain parts of the American public as something it is not. The Democratic ideas of helping the poor, the middle class, with giving those who make normal amounts of money a TAX BREAK and going after corporations to pay MORE - and then of course health care, etc… is everything that would be useful to Joe-the-plumber - yet he will vote for a candidate who will make decisions that are not in his own (Joe’s) best interest. The Republicans are all about giving breaks to corporations and rich people with the idea that prosperity will “trickle down”. Gee. Let’s look at how well that has worked… Joe-the-plumber is cute though, huh?
