Last week, beloved fans were heartbroken when Dancing With the Stars winner, Helio Castoneves was arrested for tax evasion. Castroneves and his sister, Kati, his former business manager, face six counts of tax evasion and one count of conspiracy in a case that centers on unpaid taxes on $5.5 million in income. His attorney Alan R. Miller, was charged in the case as well. YIKES!

By day, Helio Castroneves is a IndyCar series driver for Penske. While Helio is out on $10 million dollars bail, the judge in his case has allowed him to travel to Australia to compete this month. It appears Helio and his team have been blindsided by these recent charges.

USA Today Reports:

“I don’t know what to say,” said Roger Penske, who employs Castroneves at Penske Racing. “Obviously, I’m disappointed to hear of his situation. He’s been a very loyal driver and really developed for us. “Unfortunately, the advice he got was not proper in setting up his offshore companies.”

While the charges shocked many in the motor sports and entertainment worlds, they were years in the making. The 25-page indictment showed that Castroneves, Kati Castroneves and a Michigan-based lawyer, Alan R. Miller, testified in a civil case in 2004 about their involvement with Seven Promotions. The indictment alleges that all three testified falsely.

What does the future hold for Helio astrologically? Helio is a charming Taurus dude, down to earth, and overall a pretty great guy. What happened? I seriously believe Helio received bad financial advice on how to set up his offshore companies. Also, it appears the judge in his case is being very lenient.

Someone is going to have to be the fall guy in this situation, who will it be? His lawyer, Alan R. Miller. It sucks, but it’s true. Alan knows the law and Helio doesn’t. Alan represents multiple athletes and if I were in their shoes, I would be getting a new lawyer fast. Also, a new accountant, and start sending the IRS some cash immediately. Alan, he’s going down.

I do believe Helio will be fined heavily and placed on probation. Inside sources reveal a plea bargain is in the works. I think this case is just the tip of the iceberg, I expect several other sports stars to be indicted for similar reasons. What’s the moral of story? Pay your damn taxes. Uncle Sam is broke and he wants his money!
