Today, when Sarah “Barracuda” Palin addresses the Republican convention, she will have one additional person cheering her on. Who will it be? Her future son-in-law, Levi Johnston.

In a show of family unity, John McCain and Sarah Palin thought it would be important to have Levi Johnston by her daughters side. He will arrive in Minnesota today to support his future teen bride and the nomination of the McCain/Palin ticket. Talk about pressuring these poor kids, first they have to have a shotgun wedding, and now the two kids have to do it while the world watches.

Levi’s mom is reported to be concerned about her son Levi’s emotional well being. Both the Democratic and Republican parties have stated that families are “off limits,” but the Republicans continue to push the issue. This is a weird situation but I admire the Bristol and Levi for sticking together.

Levi Johnston’s mother said her 18-year-old son left Alaska on Tuesday morning to join the Palin family at the convention where Sen. John McCain will officially receive the Republican nomination for president. The boy’s mother, Sherry Johnston, said there had been no pressure put on her son to marry 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the two teens had made plans to wed before it was known she was pregnant.

“This is just a bonus,” Johnston said.

I think from a strategy perspective it’s smart, they’re an adorable couple, and the country will rally around the young teens for support. On the other hand, it feels like Sarah Palin and her family are being used as pawns. I’m sure they’re a wonderful family, I just don’t see Palin is qualified to be nominated as Vice President.

Sarah Palin’s first debate with Joe Biden is scheduled for September 26th. I look forward to learning more about Sarah Palin and her opinions. Stay tuned!
