JERRY SEINFELD - Microsoft Dumps Comedian and Bill Gates For New Ad Campaign!

It looks like Microsoft is on “damage control” duty. According to news reports, depending on who you believe, havejerryseinfeld.jpg stated that Microsoft canned the Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates ads. Microsoft or possibly even Jerry, have their undies in a knot saying not true, they are just moving on to “phase two.” Don’t worry Jerry, you were paid $10 million dollars, and you can laugh all the way to the bank. Bill Gates, you’re the richest man in the world, you are a bank.

I watched the ads, I didn’t get it, and I seriously found the ads VERY UNFUNNY. I am a Mac lover, but I own a PC. Actually, I have a PC for work, and a Mac for my personal use. I love the Mac ads, I get it, and I think they’re hilarious.

According to MSNBC:

So now that Microsoft is moving beyond Jerry Seinfeld to the next wave of well-known pitch people, Microsoft called this morning to clarify a few things in my last post.

One: Seinfeld wasn’t “fired,” or “canned,” or “cancelled,” or “let go.” The company said from the early going that the Seinfeld commercials were “teaser ads” meant to stir conversation and debate, and tee up this next round of ads.

Two: The Seinfeld ads were actually a resounding success, Microsoft says, leading to enormous market penetration and dialogue. In fact, a Microsoft spokesman tells me that more than 5 million people visited the Windows web site and YouTube to view the ads. By choice. In addition to whoever saw these ads as they ran on TV the past three weeks.

Word to Microsoft, get a new ad agency, and stop trying to be cool. Most people are stuck using PC’s and it’s really not necessary to be like Apple. Or better yet, Kramer would have been funnier, or I would have ran a Microsoft commercial around the old Jerry Seinfeld show. Much funnier. Nuff said.
