Although Heath Ledger has passed on, his spirit continues to shine brightly in NYC. His business partner, Jud Mongell is putting the final touches on the bar he owned with his good buddy. Although the opening will be bittersweet, it will be a place where friends and fans can gather together to celebrate his life.

According to UK news reports:

BrightSide, a nautical-themed restaurant and bar in Brooklyn, New York in which the star of the Dark Knight had invested with his friend and business partner Jud Mongell, is scheduled to open later this summer.

The venue’s interior will contain features designed by Mr Ledger, who has received critical acclaim for his depiction of the Joker in the latest Batman film. It will also contain personal references to him, including a chessboard engraved into one of the tables.

“Heath was a big chess player,” Mr Mongell told Life and Style magazine. “The whole idea was to make it a spot for us. We wanted to make it our own space to hang out.”

I absolutely love the photo of this painting of Heath. The original was painted by one of his good friends in Australia. It was later given as a gift to his Mother. Absolutely beautiful!
