Ellen and Portia represent the new “hot lesbian” couple. They’re set to exchange wedding vows this year but some media speculate that Portia is just a “trophy wife.” When I first read that, I thought they might be insulted by the article. Yes, Portia is a beautiful girl but I think in the Lesbian community, Ellen would be seen as a quite a good catch as well.

An attractive, young “trophy wife” on the arm of a much older male celebrity is as commonplace as rehab these days. But with more gay celebrities coming out of the closet and gay marriage becoming legal in California, are we about to enter the era of the “gay trophy spouse”?

One of the more prominent examples is Ellen DeGeneres and her companion of four years, Portia de Rossi. “Theoretically, it’s a trophy relationship,” Hauslaib said. “Ellen just turned 50 and Portia is 35. It sort of fits the mold.”

But where it diverges from the stereotype, Hauslaib said, is in the seriousness of the relationship. Two months after they began dating, de Rossi, an actress and star of “Ally McBeal” and “Nip/Tuck,” gave DeGeneres a Tiffany wedding band and bought one for herself. (I think the slang term is U-Haulin).

What does the future hold for Ellen astrologically? Ellen was born on January 26, 1958 and has Sun and Venus in friendly Aquarius.  She has Moon in fiery Aries and Mars in freedom loving Sag. Ellen is a unique person, who likes to have fun, is independent, needs space in a relationship, and is not afraid to speak her mind.

Her partner Portia, is an Aquarius as well and they share an instant connection. Portia has Moon in Capricorn and can be a bit stubborn. I see emotionally the two could clash at times. It seems like Portia would withdraw, where Ellen would want to work it out immediately. Portia has Venus in romantic Pisces and Mars in freedom loving Sag. It shows that Portia loves deeply but could be very insecure at times. I think Ellen provides the love and security that she’s looking for.

I see kids on the horizon for these two. It looks like a possible adoption in 2010 for Ellen and Portia. I see a tremendous amount of passion between the two. If Ellen can be patient with Portia, I think they have a strong chance of sharing a lifetime of happiness together.
