Jason Castro is the adorable dread head on American Idol. He comes across as a stoner/surfer dude. The gossip blogs are buzzing that he will be booted off tonight. Will he? I hope not, he’s one of my favorites.

Castro auditioned for American Idol in Dallas, Texas. He was not shown on the television series until the finals due to legal restrictions on the songs he chose to perform. He has stated that his musical influences include Ray LaMontagne and Kirk Baxley. He made some appearances on the MTV reality show Cheyenne and was also featured in Cheyenne Kimball’s music video “Hanging On“. They look like a cute couple?

Castro’s rendition of the song “Hallelujah” performed on American Idol — combined with the judges’ favorable comments — propelled droves of viewers to the iTunes Store to download the Jeff Buckley cover of the Leonard Cohen song, which propelled it to the #1 spot on iTunes’ singles chart.

Castro has a Jack Johnson meets Bob Dylan vibe to him. He has Sun in fun-lovin Aries, Moon and Venus in independent Aquarius, and Mars in stubborn Taurus. I was surprised to see that he has Venus square Mars aspect. This normally represents someone who is insecure in relationships. His Moon-Venus conjunction shows that he definitely is a Mama’s boy. The square to his Moon could represent emotional conflicts with his Father. Also, the Moon-Venus connection shows he is a loyal and funny guy.

I think the next four years are going to be incredibly exciting for him. I think he will be very successful in his solo career and in 2010 I see him involved in a very serious romantic relationship. Possibly even marriage by the time he hits 25. My prediction he will hook up with someone who is also famous.
I think Jason has a looooooong career ahead as a Singer, Actor, and TV-host. Do I think he will win American Idol? No, but I think his career will be much more successful than the winner himself. He is probably one of the most talented and original artists on the show.
