CELEBRITY BIRTHDAYS - Pharrell Williams, Mike McCready, Bette Davis, Spencer Tracey, and Agnetha Faltskog!

Spencer Tracey would have been 108, Max Gail is 65, Gregory Peck would have been 92, Colin Powell is 71, Bette Davis would have been 100, Arthur Hailey would have been 88, Mike McCready is 43, Agnetha Faltskog is 58, and hip hop superstar Pharrell Williams is 35.

Did you know…

In 1999, Davis was placed second, behind Katharine Hepburn, on the American Film Institute’s list of the greatest female stars of all time. She had a reported long standing feud with Joan Crawford, which she denied. In her last book, “This ‘N That” Bette Davis said, “Feud is a Hollywood word, a wildly overused Tinseltown word. In 1997, the executors of her estate, Michael Merrill, her son, and Kathryn Sermak, her former assistant, established “The Bette Davis Foundation” which awards college scholarships to promising actors and actresses.

In 1999, the American Film Institute named Spencer Tracy among the Greatest Male Stars of All Time, ranking 9th on the list of 100. He was nominated for nine Academy Awards for Best Actor. In 1941, during the filming of Woman of the Year, Tracy began an affair with Katharine Hepburn, who had just ended her five-year affair with producer Howard Hughes. Their relationship, endured much speculation, on the same level as Brad and Angelina, lasted until Tracy’s death in 1967. Tracey was said to be married to his wife Louise, who he never divorced, because he was a practicing Roman Catholic.

McCready is the lead guitarist and, along with Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, a founding member of the American rock band, Pearl Jam. By the end of 1992, Pearl Jam became one of the most famous modern bands with the success of its debut album Ten. It is considered one of the greatest rock albums of all time. On a personal note, Mike McCready has had two different bouts with substance abuse.

Agnetha Faltskog, was the lead singer of the SUPER popular band ABBA. The band has been a cultural phenomenon selling over 370 million records worldwide. They still sell two to three million albums each year, kaching! The music of ABBA has been re-arranged into the successful musical Mamma Mia! that has toured worldwide and is in production for a movie version to be released in 2008.

Pharrell Williams is an American producer, singer, rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, and skateboarder. He is one half of the production duo The Neptunes, where, along with Chad Hugo, he produces Pop, hip-hop and R&B music. Most recently, he produced Britney Spear’ latest album Blackout. He also has two clothing lines, Billionaire Boys Club, and Ice Cream. In 2005, he was named “Best Dressed Man in the World” by Esquire magazine. HE reportedly dumped Jade Jagger because her bedroom antics wore him out. He’s da man.
